Description - The entrance to the Grottoes, also known as Caves of the Thousand Buddhas, located on the east of Rattling Sand Mountain 25km southeast of Dunhuang in Gansu Province, north-west China; the caves are the best preserved and richest repository of Buddhist art in the world, with 492 caves containing about 2100 colored statues and 45,000 sq mt of murals.
