Costume of French West Africa

This African costume is taken from a collection of drawings of late 19th century.

French West Africa (French: Afrique occidentale française, AOF) was created in 1895 and initially comprised Ivory Coast, Senegal, French Guinea (now Guinea), and French Sudan (now Mali), while Niger, Mauritania and Upper Volta (now Burkina Faso) were added later.
